Kris Putnam-Walkerly, MSW, Chair

Kris Putnam-Walkerly, MSW, is president of Putnam Consulting Group, a national philanthropy consulting firm that helps foundations design effective grantmaking strategies, evaluate impact, and communicate results. Clients include the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Annie E. Casey Foundation, Cleveland Foundation, Fujitsu USA, California HealthCare Foundation, David and Lucile Packard Foundation, Charles and Helen Schwab Foundation, Emerging Practitioners in Philanthropy, Northern California Grantmakers, The California Endowment,  Ohio State Bar Foundation, Blue Shield of California, and many others.

Prior to establishing Putnam Consulting Group, Kris worked as a grantmaker at the David and Lucile Packard Foundation and an evaluator at the Stanford University School of Medicine. She is a founding member and current Chair of the National Network of Consultants to Grantmakers. She also serves on the Board of the Community Foundation of Lorain County, and Advisory Committee of the Foundation Center – Cleveland, and she is a member of the Society for the Advancement of Consulting. In 2008 Kris was named a Top 10 Women Business Owner of Northeast Ohio by the National Association of Women Business Owners and named a Ten Under 10 award winner by the Council of Smaller Enterprises.

Kris holds a master’s degree in social work from San Francisco State University and a bachelor’s degree in anthropology and political science from Indiana University, Bloomington. In 2003, she completed the Ethics for Foundation Consultants training at the Institute for Global Ethics. Kris is married and has five children and stepchildren. She and her family reside in Avon Lake, Ohio.
